![]() However, by the time Philip put that dagger in my back, I realized far too late how much he’d truly lost touch with his humanity. Don’t misunderstand me, I loved my brother of course, and he was very dear to me. “Aren’t you mad I essentially helped curb-stomp your brother to death?” The moment he perished it was like some sort of curse broke and I finally felt free again! I must have been brought here in order to express how much you have my deepest gratitude.”Įda frowned skeptically at the human… ghost… ghost-human in front of her. ![]() It all revolves around how you and your family finally put an end to my brother’s reign. “It relates to my current theory for how I can speak with you now. Well, unless you count all the Grimwalkers of course, but I only ever got to speak to them once they’d already perished.” These last few hundred years the only person I’ve been able to interact with has been Phil. It probably doesn’t help any with how incredibly rusty I am when it comes to meeting new folks. “Sorry, I know this whole situation must be terribly strange and confusing for you. “No, you’re not dead at all sweetheart, I promise!” Caleb placated gently, kneeling down in the grass in front of her. “If I just up and died over some stupid common mold, Raine is gonna be soo pissed!” “Ah shit, if you’re supposed to be dead, does that mean I am too?!”Įda patted herself down, frowning she didn’t feel like she was dead, though it wasn’t as if she had any personal experience to use as a basis. Damn, she could feel a headache already starting to form from it all. “Caleb? As in Philip Wittebane’s brother? Dude who got slaughtered by ‘brother-stabbing’ Belos?” Eda raised a brow, more confused than before. “If you recognize me as Hunter, then that must mean you must be Edalyn! Gosh, you really are the splitting image of my darling Eve, aren’t you? I am so sorry for frightening you my dear.” and he bowed to her, so low his flyaway hair strand nearly brushed the overgrown grass. No, this was someone unfamiliar and it put Eda right back on edge. The voice coming from the person in front of her was a far cry from the timid boy she’d grown familiar with it was gruffer with a deeper tone, and far more prim and proper than she’d ever heard the kid use, including his golden guard days. “Kid, what the hell are you doing sneaking up on me like?! You damn near gave me a heart attack!” “H-Hunter?!” she snapped, finally recognizing the blond-haired figure in front of her. “Where are they?! I swear, if you’ve touched even a hair on their head again, I will burn you from this realm!” Eda snarled, whipping around, only to stumble backwards in confusion when it wasn’t Belos behind her like she’d been expecting. How could he possibly have survived everything?! How was he here now? Hell, how had she even gotten here to begin with? And most importantly: where the fuck was Raine?! There was only one person who ever called her by that name before, and he was supposed to be long gone. If Eda was scared before, she was outright petrified now. “Evelyn” an eerily familiar voice spoke behind her. “How the fu- “she began when a soft voice interrupted her. With a start, Eda realized she was somehow perched on her and Raine’s hilltop. Peering at the scenery around her, she took in the rolling hills of red tufts of grass bordering vast fields of veridian plants covered in tiny snapdragon blossoms just starting to bloom. Panic seized her as Eda jack-knifed upright, quickly discovering not only was Raine missing, but she was entirely alone and nowhere near her home like she’d expected. “Mmmm, how’d you know some fresh air was the trick to fixing me right up Rainestorm?” she hummed softly, cracking an eye open and glancing to the side.Įda opened both eyes this time and glanced back and forth, confused about why they wouldn’t have respond to her. Raine must have brought them both outside in an attempt to help Eda feel less pent-up and suffocated they really were too good for this world. She could feel the warmth of the sun shining on her skin while the wind played with loose strands of her silver hair, tickling her face with them.Įda chuckled softly, taking in a few deep breaths now lacking their earlier constricting ache. When she awoke, Eda was laid out on a soft cotton blanket on top of rough tufts of grass poking their way through it.
